Claudia Siegle Horn - Principal

Professional Profile

Claudia Siegle Horn has been a principal of StoneGate since 1996, when she consolidated her investment banking firm into StoneGate.

Ms. Horn began her finance career in 1979 with Barclays American Business Credit (formerly Aetna Business Credit), then the premier financial institution in the Nation serving the media industries. There, she provided a variety of unique and innovative financial accommodations to radio, television, cable, outdoor and publishing companies. Over the next decade, Ms. Horn held a variety of increasingly responsible positions within the Communications Finance Division, including responsibilities in Loan Administration, Loan Servicing, Credit Underwriting, Industry Analysis, Marketing, and New Business Development.

While at Barclays, Ms. Horn was also responsible for all training and supervision of the Loan Administration and Credit Underwriting staffs, and developing and executing strategic marketing and business plans that enabled the division to meet profitability and funding targets. In 1988, she joined the Communications Group of Rhode Island Hospital Trust National Bank, then an active broadcasting company lender, where she maintained overall responsibility for building and developing the Communication Group’s Radio Finance Department. Over the following two years, she established the bank as a major source of senior debt financing for small market entrepreneurial radio companies.

In 1990, Ms. Horn joined Chesley Maddox & Associates, a boutique investment banking firm that provided financial and consulting services to companies in the media industries. During the difficult financial period of the early 1990’s, Ms. Horn worked extensively with companies under financial pressure and successfully identified several new and creative financing sources, securing financing for radio and television companies requiring financing for startup operations and loan workout recapitalizations. In 1992, Ms. Horn joined Multi Market Communications as Chief Financial Officer. Multi Market was an entrepreneurial, Hartford, CT based, acquisition oriented radio company that focused on the acquisition and development of underperforming radio stations. While with Multi Market, Ms. Horn was responsible for the company’s financial, acquisition and strategic planning activities. She was also involved in all areas of the company’s day-to-day radio operations, working in the sales, promotions, programming, traffic and business office areas. Multi Market was acquired by American Radio Systems.

In 1995, Ms. Horn established an investment banking practice offering financial and investment banking services to small market, media companies. Working with companies that were underdeveloped or in workout situations, Ms. Horn worked with lenders and investors to resolve critical financial issues, and developed strategic operating plans and implemented systems which enabled those companies to achieve their financial and operating objectives. In addition, she served as the functional Chief Financial Officer for several of the radio companies she worked with.

Since merging her investment banking practice into StoneGate in 1996, Ms. Horn has been involved in StoneGate's financing, restructuring, acquisition, and sale transactions, as well as all startup company development activities. She has also established completely new financial reporting systems and maintained financial institution and investor relationships for client companies, functioning as their Chief Financial Officer. Until its sale in late 2002 to Backyard Broadcasting, Ms. Horn served as the Treasurer and Chief Financial Officer of Sabre Communications, Inc.

Ms. Horn has also served as a Managing Director of Community Radio, LLC, which operated 11 radio stations in two markets for over three years under a Time Brokerage Agreement with Textron Financial Corporation. An existing StoneGate client, Textron acquired the stations when it bid its debt in a Chapter 11 Bankruptcy case. Ms. Horn was also a director and the first Treasurer and Chief Financial Officer of Commander Premier Aircraft Corporation (CPAC). CPAC was formed in early 2005 by over 50 owners of Commander aircraft to acquire the assets of defunct Commander Aircraft Company from its Chapter 7 Bankruptcy trustee and establish operations to provide parts and service to the world-wide Commander fleet and build new Commander aircraft. Ms. Horn has served as the Chief Financial Officer of Buckley Broadcasting and as a director of Broadcast Electronics, Inc., the world's largest radio-only equipment manufacturer.

Ms. Horn also serves as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Broadcast Management & Technology.

Ms. Horn earned a B.A. degree in Finance from Quinnipiac University. She has served as an officer and director of several media companies and has been a regular speaker on panels at the National Association of Broadcasters' annual conventions and at the NAB Radio conventions. Ms. Horn holds a private pilot certificate and has been featured in several aviation publications.
